Quick turnaround redecoration of a garden flat in Chelsea

The owners had just completed on a charming two-bedroom garden flat in Chelsea and wanted to waste no time. They needed the whole interior refreshed before moving their furniture in — no structural changes, just a clean, high-quality repaint throughout. We were given the keys the day after completion and got to work immediately.

The challenge

The flat wasn't in bad shape, but the existing colours felt tired and uneven, with visible marks on the walls and scuffs around the skirting boards. The ceilings had slight discolouration, and the internal doors looked faded. The main goal was speed without cutting corners - the owners wanted a flawless finish but couldn't afford weeks of disruption.

What we did

  • Walls and ceilings – We carefully filled any small cracks and holes, sanded down patches where old paint had bubbled, and applied two coats of premium matt emulsion throughout. The living area and bedrooms were finished in a warm neutral tone to maximise light, while the bathroom got a more durable, moisture-resistant paint.

  • Skirting boards and architraves – All woodwork was lightly sanded, primed where needed, and painted with a durable satin finish. We made sure there were no drips or brush marks — something that makes a huge difference in a period conversion.

  • Doors and frames – All internal doors (including the bathroom and both bedroom doors) were removed, painted off-site for a cleaner finish, then rehung with new handles that the owners supplied.

  • Kitchen-living area – This open space got extra attention around the kitchen units and backsplash, where we carefully masked everything off to keep the paintwork tidy. The high-traffic areas were finished with a slightly more washable paint for easy maintenance.

Before and after results

The transformation was immediate. What looked like a slightly neglected flat before now feels fresh, bright, and move-in ready. The neutral palette makes the garden flat feel bigger, and the crisp skirting boards and doors add a premium touch that potential buyers or tenants notice right away. The owners were able to bring their furniture in the same week the painting finished.

Why this works for Chelsea

In areas like Chelsea, presentation is everything - whether you're planning to live in the flat, rent it out, or sell it on. A professional repaint is one of the highest-return improvements you can make. It's not just about hiding imperfections; it's about making the whole space feel looked after.
